Pumpkin Streusel Bundt Cake

Image
I couldn't stop eating this, so I quickly portioned out pieces to send home with my guests after we all ate our share. Of course, they loved it. Why? It wasn't so sweet that a vegan could only eat one square inch before launching into a diabetic coma! Originally, the recipe was only lightly dusted with a fraction of a teaspoon of powdered sugar. And you know, that ain't gonna cut it for me! I knew it wouldn't be as tasty without some other flavor and texture to top it with. Therefore, I made a streusel. It was different from ones I had made before, because you used melted butter and then mixed it in the already-warm pan that you heated it with. What? Tried it anyway. Then, I had the splendid realization that it would fit perfectly with my bundt cake because it couldn't melt anymore that it already was in the oven. Wait, don't you normally bake streusel? Ok, this is the deal. When you make a bundt cake, you flip it over , so whatever is on the bottom is a...

Fried Chicken+My Hilarious Mistake

Image
Dude, seriously. More like your cooking life, though. I had been afraid to make fried chicken for sooo long because every time I did it, it did not work out! Me and my mom tried it over and over but we would burn it, the flour wouldn't stick, we'd forget the salt or not know what seasonings to use, and man would it be disappointing! But really, who wants to spend 2 hours making something wrong, and resulting in an over-greasy, burnt, not-worth-the-unhealthy ingredients dinner?!? We had even tried the dried mashed potatoes thing, but why do we have to go through such an effort and use strange ingredients just to make something so many people can do in a heartbeat? Why couldn't we just make normally like those awesome Mississippi cooks? I found ALL THE ANSWERS in this one video, made by a blogger/youtuber lady. Her trick is double dipping, lots of hot sauce and an unearthly amount of spices that give it perfect  flavor. I was so happy and I couldn't even believe...

Nature is God's Canvas

Image
During my several visits to The Farm, I've found out the nature is not just beautiful, it's breathtaking. So I had the urge to take pictures of it. However, I have a really crappy point-and-shoot camera that aggravates me beyond belief. I'm hoping to get a much nicer one soon. I know what pictures can look like, and being perfectionistic, when I can't get a picture that a 600 dollar camera would take with 30 dollar one, I get frustrated. I guess I'm overestimating what my poor decade-old camera can do.

Queen of Ethiopia Braids

Image
I had a lot of fun doing this hairstyle on Aziza. She remained me of an african queen (yea, in American clothes...ha ha). It was pretty easy because you are braiding in the flow of hair, which is down. It didn't loosen up or frizz nearly as bad either. The one disadvantage was that all the braids were pulling on one area on her head so scabbed up a bit there. I've seen this exact hairstyle, but they solve that problem by not starting all the braids in one area. I always thought it was just to elaborate, but now I know it was just practicality. This style is pretty self-explanatory, but here's how I did it: Wash, brush, moisturize and prepare the hair for braiding. Pick your center point and start from there. Part your sections however big you want and braid out. Once you have finished, braid the braids into a circle around the head immediately. Feel free to use ribbons and extensions, you can do some cute things with them!

Moisture Stick DIY

Image
This guy is a lot like those sunscreen sticks you see during sunburn season. My moisture stick goes on much smoother though, and has a different purpose. Nobody likes dry skin, especially when it comes in little patches on your hands or face. The whole reason I made this was by request of my dad. He has one, bright, red, patch of annoying eczema on his face in between his eyes and beard. Why couldn't it just hide itself somewhere under the legions of hair?!? Anyway, spur-of-the moment he asked me to make something for it that he could apply really easily and had all-natural ingredients. He isn't too happy about putting gobs of chemically scented and colored "moisturizers" mostly consisting of toxic unpronounceable poisons. Applying something too fragranced wasn't an option either because it was right next to his eyeball and extremely sensitive and picky nose. No essential oils in this one, uh-uh! With all those requirements in mind, and past knowledge ...
