Herbal Remedies Galore


I've started a new class with the new school year: Herbal Studies. It contains a wide genre of homemade body products, natural remedies for various ailments, and what leaves are good for what thing when you are lost and surviving in the Alaskan forests. I'm using this blog as a journal for it so don't be surprised if one of my posts is, "Lamb's Ear: the Medieval Maxi Pad"(because it actually is!) Of course, we have a cute little binder to record all our fantastic findings; now that the whole family's into it we don't want our discoveries in scraps of paper under mom's desk!


We've made some astounding discoveries already! For instance: half the weeds in your back yard are actually a natural Benadryl for that bee sting you just got while trying to extinguish the hive in your garage roof! However, let me warn you NOT to just go chewing anything you find growing out of the ground to use as a healing salve. There are some pretty poisonous plants our there, so please consult Dr. Google first!!! Or my blog ;)

Fried Chicken+My Hilarious Mistake

Dude, seriously. More like your cooking life, though. I had been afraid to make fried chicken for sooo long because every time I did it, it did not work out! Me and my mom tried it over and over but we would burn it, the flour wouldn't stick, we'd forget the salt or not know what seasonings to use, and man would it be disappointing! But really, who wants to spend 2 hours making something wrong, and resulting in an over-greasy, burnt, not-worth-the-unhealthy ingredients dinner?!? Downtown Chicago Pictures+Touring German Cousin Around...

Just recently, my cousin came to stay with us from Germany and it's been a blast! We've done a lot of photography together but I think the best so far is from downtown Chicago. Anyways, we went downtown with my cousin to show her some cool Chicago and I was like... Time for camera action. And I took that. Moisture Stick DIY

This guy is a lot like those sunscreen sticks you see during sunburn season. My moisture stick goes on much smoother though, and has a different purpose. Nobody likes dry skin, especially when it comes in little patches on your hands or face. The whole reason I made this was by request of my dad. He has one, bright, red, patch of annoying eczema on his face in between his eyes and beard. Why couldn't it just hide itself somewhere under the legions of hair?!? Anyway, spur-of-the moment he asked me to make something for it that he could apply really easily and had all-natural ingredients. He isn't too happy about putting gobs of chemically scented and colored "moisturizers" mostly consisting of toxic unpronounceable poisons. Applying something too fragranced wasn't an option either because it was right next to his eyeball and extremely sensitive and picky nose. No essential oils in this one, uh-uh!
